On the advice of my friend and colleague Liz I’ve decided to keep a blog of my experiences working on Plan D.

Where are we so far – well it’s been quite a year…

I wrote the play in May 2007 after attending an amazing seminar on Oral Histories at SOAS (School for Oriental and African Studies in London). The testimonies I saw and heard were inspirational and I used them and my own family’s stories to write the play.

I’ve been determined to get it on, and did a reading of the play earlier in the year where the response from actors and audience was really really positive.

So Michelle (another friend and collegue) and I started fundraising in earnest, applying to trusts and foundations, writing to people who might be in a position to help us and culminating in our fundraising comedy event Stand Up For Plan D which was hosted by the hilarious Toulson And Harvey last week.

So far we have £8,000, and continue to try to raise funds…

But tomorrow the artistic stuff starts, myself and director Chris White are starting to meet actors, very exciting… I’ll update this blog with who will be playing what parts when we know…

Exciting times smiley
